Remove friction before people hesitate
The best way to get DUI treatment is to start with a licensed Illinois DUI evaluation provider who can determine your required level of care and explain the next steps. DUI treatment should match your risk classification, substance use history, schedule, and legal requirements. For many clients, online DUI treatment is the most convenient option because it allows them to complete required services from home while still working with a licensed Illinois provider.
A DUI evaluation includes a clinical interview, review of your alcohol and drug use history, review of DUI-related documents, and an assessment of your risk level. The evaluator may review your driving abstract, sworn report, prior DUI history, BAC or refusal information, treatment history, and any current substance use concerns. After the evaluation, you receive a risk classification and recommendations for DUI risk education, early intervention, treatment, or continuing care if required.
The length of DUI treatment in Illinois depends on your risk classification and the number of required service hours. Moderate Risk clients may be required to complete early intervention over at least four weeks. Significant Risk clients generally complete at least 20 hours of substance use treatment, while High Risk clients are required to complete at least 75 hours of treatment. The total number of weeks depends on scheduling, attendance, clinical progress, and whether continuing care is required.
Yes. If your Illinois driver’s license was revoked or suspended because of a DUI, you will generally need an alcohol and drug evaluation before seeking license reinstatement or driving relief through the Illinois Secretary of State. The evaluation helps determine your risk classification and whether you must complete DUI risk education, treatment, continuing care, or other recommended services before your hearing.
